(Reuters) -Walt Disney plans to transition away from its use of Slack as a companywide workplace collaboration system, after a hacking entity leaked online more than a terabyte of company data, according to a report in the Status media newsletter.

A hacking group said it gained access to Disney's Slack channels over the summer, which led to leaks. Now, Disney is transitioning away from Slack.

The company said in a memo that most of its businesses would stop using the tool by the end of this year.

The company's Slack server was hacked in July, leading to more than a terabyte of company data being leaked to the public.

The Walt Disney Company will transition away from using Salesforce’s Slack for internal communications after a hacking group leaked data from over 44 million messages. Disney Transitioning Away From Slack Disney Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnson said in an internal memo that most of the company’s businesses would stop using Slack later this year.

Disney said it was investigating an unauthorized release of over a terabyte of data from one of its communication systems.
